RED PARTY 2009 was held on Friday 4th September at Melbas, Surfers Paradise. An annual event held nationally by many medical schools in Australia,

RED PARTY aims to raise funds to support people who have been diagnosed with HIV. HOPE4HEALTH supported FJN+ again this year and an amazing $3500+ was raised (over $6000 Fijian). The dance floor was a sea of RED as people partied the night away. Griffith University students, Gold Coast Hospital staff, and the general public all came together to support the night and from all accounts, an awesome time was had by all.

FJN+ is a local run charity run by HIV positive people in Fiji. They provide education and support for those affected by the disease. This includes halfway homes where newly diagnosed people can learn life skills and undergo training and means for income generation, raising awareness about HIV/AIDs, and outreach programs to surrounding villages to inform and educate about the disease.

The money raised from last years RED PARTY was used to furnish a halfway home for Fijian women diagnosed with HIV. FJN+ had built the halfway home but were unable to furnish it meaning that no one was able to move in. This year the money is going towards the building of a halfway home for Fijian men diagnosed with HIV.
