Rural Trips

Once again HOPE4HEALTH will be running a series of rural trips which will allow students to become actively involved in the rural health experience. Whilst on rural trips they will be able to learn skills vital for any rural practitioner, such as:

  • insertion of chest drains
  • emergency airway management
  • skin cancer excision
  • suturing techniques
  • plastering

The trips also provide a unique opportunity to become exposed to what life is like as a rural health professional, to encourage and maximise this exposure the trips often try and fuse the educational aspects with a variety of social events and local highlights as well as opportunities to meet and chat with local physicians and health professionals.

This year trips will be run to Rockhampton for the annual Joint Rural Health Club Weekend (applications already closed), Roma for the first annual DedMental (med and dental) skills weekend and Bundaberg. Details of these events will come in due coarse so keep your eyes our for emails, or email Brodie (rural@hope4health.org.au) for more details.
