Annual Jazz Dinner Dance The inaugural HOPE4HEALTH Jazz Dinner Dance was held at the Gold Coast Convention Centre on the 26th of May. With just under 500 people in attendance the event raised just over $65,000 that will go towards the Dabaa Medical Centre project. Attendees heard addresses from Medicins sans Frontières doctors Andrew Burke and Rowan Gillies. Joining them was the Chairman of the Royal College of Surgeons (Queensland), Chris Perry who spoke about his experiences in Ghana as a surgical registrar. A successful auction was also held with diamond rings, a BMW and a Gold Coast Titans Jersey selling quickly.
Entertainment from the Con Artists, drummers from Mila Arts and dancers from Le Step on the Coast ensured the night would set a high benchmark for next year.
Ghana Get Groovy
Ghana Get Groovy was held in March, 2007 at ‘Cocktails and Dreams’ in Surfer’s Paradise. The event raised over $3500 for HOPE4HEALTH’s Ghana project and was attended by over 500 people. True to its name, ‘Ghana Get Groovy’ transformed the dance floor at ‘Cocktails and Dreams’ into a true Studio 54 which lasted well into the early hours of the morning. Competition was high for the best dressed, but was ultimately decided amongst the few candidates who bravely went the extra mile. Go to photo gallery.
